Expanding capabilities into new markets
Challenge
For nearly 70 years, Meredith-Webb’s phenomenal growth has been supported by experienced craftsmen and dedicated industry professionals. Complex multi-dimensional specialty pieces are produced at its North Carolina facility with speed and efficiency. When customers began asking for work larger than the current KBA large format presses, Meredith-Webb was challenged to find a new super large press with the capability of printing displays, packaging, point-of-sale purchase signage and heat-transferred materials up to 81 inches.
Solution
After experiencing the quality and productivity of three previous KBA presses, Kelly and Travers Webb made the tactical decision to move into large format POP and retail signage capabilities with a new KBA Rapida 205 81-inch press. This one-of-a-kind press delivers a highly effective single source solution for Meredith-Webb customers. It has broadened the firm’s capabilities to attract new business; provided critical speed-to-market; and allowed them to deliver quality and efficiency to its valued customers and provide them with an extra-large sheet to develop marketing and branding concepts.
Benefit
The Burlington, NC facility is now operating its super large format Rapida 205 alongside three additional new printing presses from KBA, all installed in the past five years. With this press’s firepower, Meredith-Webb is able to capitalize on opportunities with customers that demand large format products, provide more value and innovation, and expand into new lucrative markets. Meredith-Webb is now dominating a unique position in which it can produce extra large format, high-quality products in a highly cost-efficient manner using extensive automation to deliver short makeready smaller jobs.
